Support for Hurricane-Damaged Private Timberlands

Eligible Hurricanes caused significant damage to silviculture in Florida, including broken limbs, downed trees, and catastrophic stand loss. This program provides financial assistance to Eligible Producers who suffered timber losses due to hurricane impacts in Eligible Counties. Payments help support recovery activities and the long-term restoration of private forestlands.

This Is For

Private forest landowners in Florida with at least ten contiguous storm-damaged acres of private forestland who owned the land at the time of the Eligible Hurricane and at the time of application that experienced moderate, severe, or catastrophic hurricane damage

You Can Receive
  • Payments based on FIA Zone and damage severity
  • Producers with at least 16% damage and 10-20 acres will receive a flat rate based on FIA zone:
    • Northeast Florida: $492.18
    • Northwest Florida: $459.16
    • Central Florida: $315.37
    • South Florida: $222.85
  • Producers with 20 or more damaged acres receive payments calculated using a damage-severity formula, not to exceed $750,000 per producer
  • Payments are available for moderate, severe, or catastrophic timber damage
  • *Actual payment amounts depend on documentation and program rules.

Allowable Uses of Funds

Producers claiming more than 20 acres of damaged timberland must commit to reforestation of catastrophic-damage pine stands or pine stands that were clear-cut due to moderate or severe hurricane damage.


Eligibility Requirements

  1. The producer must meet the definition of an Eligible Producer under this program.
  2. The application must cover at least ten contiguous acres of timberland, under the same ownership, with moderate, severe, or catastrophic hurricane damage occurring on all or part of that acreage.
  3. Losses must have occurred on private forest land.
  4. The Eligible Producer must have been the owner of the private forest land at the time of the Eligible Hurricane and at the time of application.

Additional Disclosures

Payments Based on FIA Zone

Producers will be reimbursed according to the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) location of their timberland.

Producers With 10–20 Damaged Acres

Producers with at least 16% damage and 10-20 acres will receive a flat rate based on FIA zone:

  • Northeast Florida: $492.18
  • Northwest Florida: $459.16
  • Central Florida: $315.37
  • South Florida: $222.85
Producers With 20+ Damaged Acres

Payments for producers with 20 or more acres will be calculated using the program's damage-severity formula, not to exceed $750,000 per producer.

Damage categories are defined as follows:

  • Moderate: 16%-39% of a stand damaged
  • Severe: 40%-60% of a stand damaged
  • Catastrophic: 61%-100% of a stand damaged
